Design through cultural understanding

31 Jul 2023

NBRS is excited to be supporting the upcoming ICOMOS GA Symposium, which will be held on Gadigal Country in Sydney later this month. The symposium will bring together heritage professionals from around the world to discuss the latest trends and challenges in cultural heritage conservation.

NBRS believes that architecture can positively transform the social and cultural forces that shape people's lives. We are committed to supporting our heritage experts in attending the symposium and learning from their colleagues worldwide about best conservation practices. We are particularly interested in the sessions on "Heritage for Climate" and "Heritage as Sustainability," as these are areas where we believe NBRS can make a significant contribution.

NBRS Heritage, under the direction of Samantha Polkinghorne, follows the Australian ICOMOS Burra Charter and the Guidelines of the NSW Heritage Office to help clients and their consultants with heritage planning, management, conservation, and adaptive reuse. We are proud to be a part of this important event and look forward to sharing our knowledge and expertise with our colleagues.

About the event
The ICOMOS GA Symposium is a major international event that is held every four years. The 2023 event will be hosted by ICOMOS Australia and will be attended by over 1,500 delegates from around the world. The theme of the symposium is "Heritage Changes: Resilience – Responsibility – Rights – Relationships."

The symposium will feature a wide range of sessions, workshops, and site visits. There will be opportunities for delegates to learn about the latest research in heritage conservation, share their own experiences, and network with colleagues from around the world.

The ICOMOS GA Symposium is an important event for the cultural heritage community. It provides a forum for professionals to share knowledge, to learn from each other, and to collaborate on solutions to the challenges facing cultural heritage.

We hope you will join us in Sydney for this exciting event!
