Last week the Federal budget for 2021-2022 was released, allocating $2.3 billion to Mental Health Services in Australia. Of this, we will see $1.4 billion allocated to accessible mental health treatment centres, and $202 million allocated to improving the workforce. The 2021 ENVISION student research program at NBRS focused on adolescent and youth mental health services, understanding trauma informed care and how we can close the gap in relation to the transition from children to adult mental health services.

Understanding the gap in this area, ENVISION students Daniel and Michelle have created a new model for a mental health hub, a well-researched and realised strategy to accommodate for the range of mental health needs required by our community. It is with financial support from the Federal Government in such a crucial area that we can begin to realise this important addition to our community infrastructure.

Michelle and Daniel will be presenting a video and poster on this topic at the European Health Design Conference in June, we look forward to sharing the official launch of their research and findings very soon.
