Partners and Clients enjoyed a wonderful evening at our June partner event in our Melbourne office, featuring our expert panel discussing heritage and sustainability. Principal architect Stephanie Ferguson explored the unique challenges and unexpected findings from the South Melbourne Town Hall restoration project. Tom Dean, National Carbon Planning Director at Slattery, spoke about embodied carbon in the Victorian context.
Repairing and adapting existing buildings should be a first step in thinking about sustainable design. While demolition can allow for highly efficient and sustainable new buildings, it comes with a great deal of waste. We are interested in the alignment of heritage and embodied carbon and achieving sustainable outcomes that give a future to existing buildings.
Thank you to all our guests for joining us, it was lovely to meet with colleagues across various sectors in the built environment space. Many interesting discussions were had, and fruitful connections made. We look forward to keeping the discussions going, and to seeing you again at future events.
Special thanks to our speakers, to Stylecraft for the furniture, and to the Trade Block Café at Victorian College for the Deaf for the catering.
