I have an upcoming project

We'd love to hear about your vision, and talk about how we can help you bring it to life by uniting the skills of our teams.

We assemble project teams across the disciplines of Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture and Heritage, to create life-changing environments across Education, Community, Secure Spaces and Wellness spaces.

Jonathan West

Director, Practice Lead - Architecture

“Architecture is the ability to create and influence the quality of people’s lives.”

As a Director of NBRS and Principal of the Education team, Jonathan guides the design and delivery of projects across all stages of learning for both public and private clients. The Studio’s expertise is underpinned by a commitment to research and innovation which ensures that NBRS’ designs remain at the forefront of educational thinking.

Jonathan brings a wide breadth of experience and expertise to the sector including masterplanning, concept design, workshops and stakeholder engagement, as well as a detailed knowledge of software programs such as CAD.

Having joined NBRS in 1997, he has successfully delivered a number of complex educational facilities for clients such as The University of Sydney, NSW Department of Education, Queenwood School for Girls and PLC Sydney. Key to his approach is the development of creative partnerships with clients and teachers to ensure that design solutions positively affect academic performance.

By conducting research into future focused learning environments, Jonathan has gained extensive knowledge of how educational facilities can be adapted and designed to support contemporary pedagogies.

He is committed to creating human centred environments that not only promote active learning for their students, but provide value to the wider community. At their best, schools and universities can become community hubs for wider civic, educational and recreational purposes.
