Ruth is a registered architect with over 15 years’ experience in building conservation and heritage planning. She is experienced at working on a range of typologies from residential dwellings to large civic buildings and historic precincts, having worked on places included on local, state and national heritage registers.

Ruth is an expert in helping asset managers to protect their historic places by melding traditional conservation knowledge with contemporary requirements for universal access, safety and improved operational performance. She understands the importance of clear, timely and constructive advice to ensure the successful completion of any project.

Ruth is passionate about quality design and environmental sustainability. She was a PhD candidate at Melbourne University for three years researching on ‘the environmental performance of historic buildings’, and is the recipient of two International Specialised Skills Institute Fellowships. Ruth has completed both the ‘Passive House Design and Construct’ and ‘Passive House Enerphit (retrofit)’ courses.

Ruth is an alternate member of the Heritage Council of Victoria, an independent statutory body appointed by the Governor in Council. She is a regular guest lecturer and design studio critic for the Melbourne School of Design (Melbourne University) and all of her work is underpinned by the Burra Charter and the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals.
