NBRS worked with ADCO Constructions to design and deliver significant upgrades to Waitara Public School. The upgraded facilities provide 38 new classrooms, a new hall, canteen, special program rooms and administrative space.
The projects utilised a number of ESD principles and developed a design which met the school’s pedagogy. Flexible and connected homebases were focused around a series of open plan spaces which could be used for a range of learning activities.
Withdrawal spaces for small group work are woven amongst the practical activities zones and a large tiered seating area which links 2 floors of the building internally and is the focus of the central space. Smaller spaces for project-based learning are provided under the stairs while casual lounge style seating encourages impromptu exchanges.
