A focal point of Vincentia for decades, Burton Street Mall is a local shopping and community hub featuring small-scale retail shops, public space and amenities. As recent development of surrounding towns saw key retail anchors shift towards other locations, there has arisen the need to upgrade the hub and stimulate more activity.

With access to some of the South Coast’s most picturesque natural settings, Burton Street Mall will play an important role in providing a platform and gateways to the area by creating a social heart to evolve with the existing community and future generations.

Space is provided for the communal gatherings such as market days, musical performance and movie nights, and green spaces designed around mature existing trees serve to connect and strengthen Vincentia’s natural environment. By using softscape elements such as lawns and planting to shape and define space, the hub will offer a variety of micro-climates to accommodate community needs, providing shelter, shade and sunlight to create a safe and comfortable environment which can be activated on a daily basis all year round.

In addition, water elements and climbing play for young children are accommodated for in an area where parents can meet to enjoy a coffee or meal whilst supervising their children.

NBRS endeavoured to harness and engage with the life and culture of the south coast, providing a flexible space that combines art and the outdoors and will strongly engage with the community as a memorable destination for art and entertainment.
