On behalf of the Board I’m pleased to advise all staff that Sophie Orrock, Practice Lead - Interior Design, has joined the Board of NBRS.

Sophie’s election as a Director headlines the NBRS’ commitment to a people first culture by providing opportunities for the senior leadership to be involved in the governance of our rapidly growing national design practice.

As we all know, Sophie’s experience and expertise are tremendous assets to our company. Initially joining NBRS in 1993, Sophie worked on large-scale projects including Sydney’s Circular Quay upgrade and the adaptive reuse of the Mark Foys Department Store before a move to the UK with her family. Upon her return to Australia she setup her own Interior Design practice. Since her return to NBRS in 2017 to lead our Interior Design Practice, she has developed creative partnerships with large public facing organisations including PLC Sydney, the UNSW for their Law Library and Chancellery as well as with the Parliament of New South Wales.

Sophie’s commitment to improving the quality of everyday life for end users, guides her design thinking. She believes NBRS can create innovative and life changing environments through the creation and shaping of interior space. She achieves this by developing collaborative relationships with clients and the architects and designers within our multi-disciplinary practice.

In 2022, Sophie led the successful NBRS ENVISION student partnership research project. This ground-breaking research, The Happy Place, resolved to bring balance and productivity back into the workplace.

The Board congratulates Sophie on her commitment and readiness to be involved in the leadership and governance of the organisation.
