Located in the heart of Albury’s central business district, adjacent to QE2 Park, the Murray Art Museum Gallery forms part of Albury’s Civic and Cultural precinct.
NBRS, working in close collaboration with the community in Albury to establish their detailed requirements, saw the refurbishment of the existing heritage-listed Art Gallery building (circa 1910) and the adjacent Burrows House Building (circa 1870), together with the provision of a new two-story addition at the rear to accommodate major touring art exhibitions
The expanded space enabled the Museum to host kids programs, art classes and workshops, rooms for hire, and exhibitions across the 8 gallery spaces enabling the museums embrace of the vision of being the most significant arts and cultural venue in the Murray region which is ranked amongst the best cultural venues in Australia.
The buildings have been linked via a large, curved foyer which invites public access from both the main street and QE2 park. Visitors are also treated to a gallery shop where they can purchase memorabilia, a café/restaurant with an outdoor terrace to relax and socialise, a Youth Members’ room, two workshops for public participation and an extensive Collection Store making it the perfect day out entertainment venue for the Albury Community.
